| I'm inspired by a friend to post figures for travel. It can be much cheaper than you might imagine. I'll share some of my cheapest travel experiences. The best deal I've gotten was $444 round trip from NYC to BKK (Bangkok). Normally that flight might be $900. If you go to Cambodia where Angkor Wat is you can stay for $2.50 a night. We got an ultra luxury place for $24 a night with a pool and real American breakfast included. It was an 8 room boutique hotel. You still need to figure in visas which can be $25 and easily up to $50 or more. Food costs here can be had for $2 a meal for first class fare of local Thai food. There's a local bus that will take you to various Phuket resorts for $1-2. If you take a cab in Phuket on the other hand your cost could be $10 a trip. If you're coming to Asia I would take a long vacation ideally since we're 12 hours time difference from the east coast of the US. It takes a while to change the internal clock. We first visited for 2 weeks. After arriving at our accomodations at 10 and going to bed at 11 we were out on a tour at 6am - too much. You must have emergency funds tho. Things come up. You get confused about the time and you miss a flight. It can cost you. We were in Kuwait and we couldn't connect to their internet. We almost missed the flight cause we weren't sure what time it was. |
