Great Falls looking toward Virginia

I grew up in the DC area and have been going to Great Falls National Park in Maryland ever since ever since. It ranks among the best in the country for me along with Assateague State park in Maryland. The falls are pretty spectacular. The C&O canal towpath adjoins the park. The tow path goes from DC to Pittsburgh, PA. There are climbing and scrambling rocks in abundance. The tow path is great for biking and hiking. It has value historically as well.
Imagine coming here in 1600 and looking for a way to cross. This is an overwhelming force of nature. Nature is not just beauty and balance, but unimaginable force. This gives me an idea of what this force is like, what it is capable of.
