This represents the last few images of Angkor Wat. Others on the page are a couple of day trips to the countryside and the attempt to enter the floating village. Even though Cambodia is a tropical area it is very dry and dusty. A lot of the homes in the countryside are on stilts. Underneath the house is where they sling hammocks. Everyone has hammocks everywhere. There are these weird tractor vehicles that I had seen in National Geographic years ago. The front wheels are tractor style then there's a large handlebar arrangement that's 8 or 9 feet long with an engine balanced in front of the wheels. The payload would go behind the driver. The appearance is strange. Like the rickshaw motorbike it is unique in Cambodia from my experience. A third unusual vehicle is the tuk-tuk. While not unique to Cambodia the Cambodian rendition is governed by PassApp software. Like Grab in other Southeast Asian countries, PassApp makes it easy for the taxi service to find you and easier to tell where you want to go.

Seeing the monuments and the monks gave me something to contrast with our own US monuments and faith representatives. Buddhism seems like a much better spiritual practice on paper, but the implementation in Southeast Asia is far from what our imaginations conjure. We don't always hear about monks stealing or other negative issues associated with the practice of Buddhism. Any human endeavor is susceptible to human motivations.

Cambodia was the most third world country we have been in to date. We traveled on dirt roads. It was dry and dusty. Overall the food was just not good. There were a few places that food was okay, but by and large is was bad to mediocre. In Siem Reap there was a tourist district called Pub Street. It was overpriced and the food unreliable. Our AirBnB recommended a few places which were good. We experimented around and found a great Mexican place.

The photos below are of our favorite hotel in the world. It is a boutique hotel with 8 rooms. We found them on AirBnB I believe. It's called the Mango Tree. It's within walking distance of Pub Street and the tourist area. The pool was a real swimming pool with adequate length and depth. It was well maintained and secure with a wall around it. Included in the $25 a night price is a choice of breakfasts that included an American option. Our room was on the first floor right next to the pool. It is always warm in Cambodia so we could swim there any time day or night.
