We have these huge banyan trees everywhere. They must be 200 years old. Wherever they grow they seem to be left undisturbed. So here's one in Kathu next to or in a hardware store. Also next to the tree is an altar. Altars are everywhere. Apparently if you build something you need to appease the land spirits who now need a place to live. The altar provides housing for the spirit so they will not be mad. I love these fantastic trees. Imagine the history they have seen. These beautiful Hyacinth flowers are everywhere here. This photo begins to tell some of the intense beauty of the blossom. The delicate curves and passionate red color always attract my attention.
