Assateague is a favorite vacation of ours. We have gone in various seasons. We love it when there are few people. We love it when it's just us and the elements. Nature can take full-hold of us there. Nature is a huge force at the ocean. Terrible storms can have devastating effects when your 1 foot above sea level. Assateague State Park is connected to Assateauge National Seashore and Chincoteague State Park. Marylands Pocomoke State Park is about 20 miles away. Pocomoke is located along a river which is a whole different experience and still close to the ocean.
