	Our Big Tandem Adventure
	The road trip began in the early hours a week before we were due at the beach in North Carolina. We started before dawn on Saturday. We loaded the bike with way too much gear. The tandem was a good idea. The trailer was a good idea. Another good idea would have been to test it all together beforehand. We didn't.
	Another good idea would have been to ride the route. It was a days drive to this location, so we just didn't have time. Although I had researched this area for previous trips I couldn't find anyone who had actually done the journey. It is doable, but you have to plan like you're in the desert. There was little water available along the whole route. There was less food. If we had only known. ALL of the services were on the highway that was not safe for cyclists.
